A few weeks ago, Gary Vaynerchuk put up a contest to design the cover of his new book, The Thank You Economy. I really should have posted this before to prove that I made it before the June 18th deadline, since I didn’t get an email acknowledging my submission.
Either way, here it is, my first attempt at a book cover design!!! And here’s the cover of Gary’s 1st NYT + WSJ bestseller, ‘Crush It!’ for comparison.
This ad is brilliant. I can’t imagine having to sit down and actually write it, not to mention shoot and edit it in a way that works so smoothly, without any jarring jumps and cuts.
It’s also a great ad for a phone company that
a.) Isn’t like an Apple ad
b.) Totally ignores the competition and ends up makes them seem like the best choice because really, “why bother looking at other phones when ours are so great”
and, most importantly:
c.) It WORKS.
It’s also a great example of the current trend that is Chinese/Taiwanese companies that traditionally used to simply manufacture devices for other companies and now design and produce them themselves, outsourcing marketing to Canada/England/America. And doing it successfully.
Hats off to HTC, they’ve probably won over a lot of non-techies worldwide for a great ad, and a lot of people who pay attention to the smartphone space for being different.
