I love this, and am always fascinated with the skill it takes to make a compelling ad in a single frame.

One of my favourite directors, Alejandro González Iñárritu (Babel, Amores Perros, 21 Grams) and Nike just released a great, intense football/soccer ad to commemorate either FIFA or the fact that Kyle Benning and I are helping The Province cover the World Cup over the next 5-6 weeks. All signs point to the former.
I know next to nothing about soccer players and teams, so I’m handling video and shaping the comedy, while Kyle’s posting to the blog every day and in the sports section of The Province fairly often as well.
PS: I’m getting back into posting here a lot more over the next couple of days, having just come back from 3 weeks in the UK, where I had limited internet access, and, frankly, much more interesting things to do.
This is brilliant 8-bit in the real-world stuff— I know people who’ve probably had the Tetris bit happen in their heads for real.
If I were an Atari/EA/Nintendo-like game company, I’d be pretty tempted to commission these folks to make a similar peice with my characters to show in cinemas, just as a “look how we’ve affected the real world”/”the influence of gaming is everywhere” sort of thing. Combine it with a site that includes behind-the-scenes videos and a little toy where you upload photos and have them converted to 8-bit for your Twitter/Facebook profile pictures, and you’re good to go.
I know that we’re all pretty bored of 8-bit themed videos at this point, but this is pretty exceptional. A fresh twist on the integration of pixels into the real world, and some amazing effects and art direction.
While in Los Angeles, Kesha had the opportunity to sing background vocals for Paris Hilton’s single, “Nothing in This World,” which led to a later incident in which she vomited in Hilton’s closet.
WOOHOO NEW VIDEO BY ME YEAHHHH
Oh wait. It’s for Remembrance Day.
Don’t be excited, it’s a time for mourning.
BUT SERIOUSLY IT’S SO GOOD YEAHHH
