Jon M. Chu has his fair share of fans and haters. He directed ‘Step Up 2 the Streets’, and is now working, as I already knew, on Step Up 3D. Say what you will, but the man knows his audience, and hit huge success with ‘America’s Best Dance Crew’ on TV.
But this, his new webseries, is something I’ve never heard of before, but will be watching 100%. A seemingly epic show called The League of Extraordinary Dancers.
It feels like a new level in online narrative content, one that i hope to one day meet and exceed, but one that hasn’t really existed until now nonetheless. A very defined yet large demographic that’s easy to sell to as well - this is almost guaranteed to be a hit.
And the style of dance that they’re hitting on here— what seems to be a sort of ballet-meets-break to me— is going to be something to watch, too. Based on the LXD performance at SYTYCD recently, I both understood the desire and would love to go to an entire show of just that sort of dance.

I posted the trailer to New Muslim Cool a few months ago, and it’s now been broadcast on PBS, is available on DVD, and is free to watch online at PBS.org, although I have yet to make that work. Enjoy this clip from the film, and be sure to catch it in any way possible. I know I will.
