New Episode of Overshare is up! In which I talk about the most important event in global news today: a 3D documentary starring Justin Bieber.

Please, click to share it on facebook or click here to share it on Twitter!

This one was one of the hardest to do— still not as hard as ep. 2, but getting started on ep. 5 here was supertough— I still haven’t been able to escape the weekly fear of completely failing! It all works out to a certain extent once it’s edited, colour graded, and the sound is mixed, but there is no indication of coherence before that at all. Which is scary, because you only know if it’s worth of putting up in the last 5 minutes of a confusing, repetitive 15-hour task, and a full university course load+a couple of jobs make 15 hours (plus time to do Buddy Guys, our sketch series) a week really valuable and hard to find.

I think I might not have the fear of horrible-ness for next week’s video though, as I already know my subject. NOW the fear is that I might be so comfortable that it isn’t funny. Which creates enough discomfort for it to be good. I overthink most things if you couldn’t tell :)

Overall I can see a lot of place for improvements, but a week ago I wouldn’t have been able to do this in the same amount of time! (Well, I didn’t :P)

Justin Timberlake and Jimmy Fallon: The History of Rap

When Jimmy Fallon first started his late night show, I had a feeling that he might just end up being one of the greats. Like, beyond Conan. It sounds crazy, but I think I should just put that out there now so I can say ‘I told you so’ 20 years from now.

This is great on a lot of levels, and is clearly a television show doing a bit that’s meant to go viral online. It’s also troubling. It reminds me of the fact that a lot of North American pop culture is really arts and culture from black folk that got taken and given a lighter face to sell to the wannabe-gangsta kids from the suburbs in order to take it big. This is literally two white guys telling/owning the history of rap, with THE ROOTS playing backup.

As problematic as that is, it’s also part of what makes the clip funny. If it was Jaime Foxx and Will Smith, I might think it was cool but not surprising or particularly forward-able. So when all’s said and done, as long as we can recognize this as a well put-together promo for The Social Network (and a fan-freaking-tastic performance by Jimmy Fallon; performing right along with TImberlake is no small feat), we can all look back on this and laugh. But seriously it’s weird that The Roots are the background in this, even if their instrumentals were perfect.

Personally, I think if you’ve got talent, you’ve got talent. Beiber’s got a great voice, and although I’m not familiar with Miley Cyrus’ work, she’s hella entertaining in interviews. Doesn’t make this any less funny.

I’m only blogging this because Justin Sacurom encouraged me to do more— I made an inukshuk today! Isn’t that interesting.

-Where I’m From-

I’m totally in love with Justin Sacurom.

Y’know, in a straight way.

So i went to Metro Town today to look for a job, more specifically Urban Behaviour, no not because there is a girl there that looked mighty fine LOL.

Talking to this girl about the work place she stated that it’s really chill, and that they are hiring, as the conversation progressed she started talking to me about what kind of guys shes into, why you might ask, i have no idea. She asked me where i was from, so i said Surrey, immediatly she said “Euuuuuuggghh i hate Surrey” why i asked, she said because its a “brown town” her being from East Van she said that brown people up there hate brown people from surrey, i know surrey might not be the GREATEST place, but it sucks to be generalized as people to be hated for something we did not even do, being in highschool sure, i was picked on by other brown students by my ethnicity but i could really care less about what they could say to me now, it was all a growing experience, sure people out here might not be the friendliest but there are alot of people from surrey here that have high hopes and high spirits and big hearts all of whch have inspired me to be a better person for who i am today other than that she went on about how she only has interests in specific types of races weather your from europe or your white, being asian herself, it suprised me how some people can be very shallow, and not really think before they speak, after all she did say “i find asians disgusting” does that mean you find yourself disgusting? i’m asian too, but yet you talk like you accept everyone, so in the most joyous way of her talking to me, are you kindly telling me that you find me disgusting LOL how odd, too bad i canned the crap out of her about how not everyone from surrey is how you say way are.

Aside from this whole meaningless discussion of her kinds of interests and her turns offs, i think i have the job a Urban Behaviour only problem is now if i do end up working there, i have to work along side this shallow girl, maybe just maybe i can inspire her to see outside the box, but then again why should i even put time on it? :D the only ray of hope that i saw in her that she agreed on that i tell everyone is that “it’s not even about your race, and how you look, or how you dress, at the end of the day it’s a persons personallity that counts” - and i stay true what i say.
