A friend of mine just got back from LA, where he toured all the major studios. On the WB tour, while they were taking a look at famous film vehicles from Scooby Doo to The Matrix to Austin Powers, they got to see one of the real Tumblers from the Batman films, and the guide mentioned that Christopher Nolan was having it shipped to the UK in a couple of weeks “for Batman 3”. My first reaction was “omg they’re already ready to start filming Batman!”, which, of course, is ridiculous. There’s so much involved in the prep of a film that huge that we would’ve heard if they were almost ready to roll film, especially so soon after Inception’s release. But it is likely a part of the prep process, and means that while they may not exactly be shooting a Bruce Wayne car chase two weeks from now, Syncopy is marching steadily forward on their next project, and that Nolan isn’t taking much of a break before returning to Gotham City one last time. Glad to hear it.
